I narrowed it down to just touching the minijack that's plugged into (snugly indeed) the camera generates the noise. Any movement creates a lot of loud hiss/noise.

Is there a problem with this cable/jack that causes a loose connection and the noise? Ofcourse I did check to make sure everything was snugly fitted.

If I keep it all still and record, the audio records/plays back fine.

Wish I could afford the proio module, but I can't... Anyone else using this cable and hit this issue or can offer any workarounds/solutions? Many thanks!

EDIT: I see there's lots of commentary regarding issues with these audio jacks, so looking for any tips/tricks anyone has used to make them work well with this cable. If no luck, I may have to go in for another accessory.
I have noticed this same exact thing, but I am using a different cable. I'm pretty sure it is those horrible headphone jacks.

I'm going to agree. I read in one of the threads that using phantom power makes it worse, so am going to pop a battery into my Rode, turn off phantom power, and see if that helps any.

Yeah, no phantom power here... I'm using a cable from my MixPre D to the headphone jack.

Oops, read too fast and thought you were talking about the Mic jack. My problem is with that jack. I see the audio meters go haywire when the cable going into the mic jack moves even a bit. No headphone in the equation here.

FYI - looking on page 165 of the 3.3 rev-a1 manual, the Headphone jack is mislabeled as E: GIG-E(Ethernet) instead of E: Headphone

I have that issue with the adapter cable going in from my shotgun. If I put my little Tascam recorder in between, though, it totally clears up.

Chad there is no direct link. You may need to get an owner to download it for you or try contacting RED directly about it.
