  1. #1 Zacuto Z Finder or Bomb EVF
Anyone compared the Zacuto Z Finder or similar to the Bomb EVF? Saves a lot of money, but no good if it's no good!

I use my Zacuto EVF all the time. I control everything with the EVF and it works very well, especially considering the price point. One issue is I wish it was a lemo connection as that would simplify the setup and operation. I power the EVF with a DTAP from my GMP AB mount batts and send the signal from the HDMI out.

Another issue I had was the burn in from the sun on the LCD screen thru the eyepiece. Cost was only $85 to fix it (and sending it away) and now I use the 16x9 frame in front which helps immensely.

The OLED is far superior in clarity and color reproduction.. The size of the Zacuto EVF is one nice thing that I like, but not enough for me to use on my EPIC, I'll leave it on my 5D package.. I also am not a fan of HDMI unless I'm forced to use it.

Honestly, if you are on a budget, the ZACUTO EVF will get the job done. I personally wouldn't trade the new OLED for any finder out there right now though.

Just be aware that the hdmi loop through on the Zacuto does not currently work with the Epic or Scarlet.

Part of me wants to sell my 5" Touch and buy the Z-Finder EVF and a Side Handle.

But having HDMI only seems like not the most ideal situation.

This one was the first I looked at when searching for something for the Phantom Miro Cineroid EVF-4MSS, has HD SDI.

I just saw this the other day on Fresh DV made by a company called Alphatron who worked with TV Logic to make this EVF. Its HDMI and HD-SDI. It looks pretty solid to me. Here is the link.

Also a short video on it.

I'm with Justin, the Bomb EVF is excellent. I use mine, with my Scarlet. I leave my Zacuto EVF flip on my RedRock Micro 5D rig and it works really well for that application, but as mentioned it's HDML. Sun burn does happen a whole lot with the Zacuto's. Depending on when you purchased, they started shipping with sun cover and CAUTION literature because they were servicing so many damaged ones.

    There is another option .......

Just use the 5inch touch as EVF. I find this set up incredibly versatile. I've also heard good things about the DP6.
