The biggest drawback I see with us and using scarlet is the lack of 4k or 3k @ 60p overcranking. To solve this issue, I was wondering if anyone out there has tried using an AE plugin like Twixtor or Kronos to take 4k @24 to 60 or 3k @ 48 to 60? Is this even possible with RED files or those frame rates? I have zero experience with these types of plugins. Thanks!

AE has pixel-motion built-in... You should try that before paying for a separate plug-in. It may artifact a little sooner than standalone time-remappers, but it'll let you see the kinds of problems you'll run into using post-slowmo-processing before spending cash on a separate prog.

So it's possible then? you can take 4k @ 24 footage from Scarlet and turn it into good looking 60? Has anyone here tried it? It's got to look better than using Scarlet's native 2k @ 60 right?

You can do Twixtor, but you won't get very usable results unless your locked off on a tripod, it will give you a trippy warped effect that will be pretty much unusable. Also you are going to need to transcode to 1080 or 720 before rendering a twixtor file, if not then your looking for trouble. My beefed up MAC PRO locks up when I'm trying to add Twixtor to a raw 4k sequence. One last thing, don't use it on water, it will again look all warped. For the best Twixtor image, lock off the camera, and don't even pan it, just don't move it, and you should be able to get a pretty decent slow mo shot.

ah... of course; that sort of ruins it though. For me then, it's going to have to be 2k @ 60. Thank you for the info.

Also there is a free version of twixtor that you can download, but it leaves a watermark. You can download it and try it.

Yep, it's possible but the results heavily depend on the content you shoot. Lots of fine details and fast motion can become painful. I would suggest to always take multiple shots if possible, shoot the same scene with 2k60, 3k48 and 4k30/24. And don't forget to adjust the shutter-angle. You want to make "room" for the inserted frames to keep the look consistent.

4k/24 to 60p will probably look like butt... and not fine female booty, but haggard man ass. I'd say, ballpark, you can get 25-33% in most cases. The more frames of the source, the slower you can go digitally before image breakdown/warping -- at 60p, you can probably get 90fps fairly often. Simple logic; the smaller the movement between frames, the easier it should be for the software to make the blended/in-between frames. Also, avoid deep focus and/or highly-detailed backgrounds. Shooting against a clear sky can probably be slowed by 200%... shooting against a background full of in-focus leafy-trees moving in the wind, not so much.

I initially assumed you meant fantastic female booty... but then you clarified. :-(
