used to live in thailand for a year, what an amazing place. you should check out Phenomena in bangkok....impressive production house and facilities.

and the 3rd floor of MBK mall for cheap mobile phones, gadgets and photography gear ;)

if you're a nikon shooter, they have a massive factory near the airport....not sure if they allow visitors but might be worth the enquiry to see how some of those tasty lenses and cameras are made.

My first choice for Vacations :) . If you have the time, take 3 days and go to Krabi. There, rent a long boat with driver for a day and go to the Islands near and far. Paradise on earth, Gunleik.
Thailand is an excellent place with fantastic hospitality, the people are very friendly. Just make sure you BARGAIN. Everything has at least a mark up of 20 to 30 percent, and that's being conservative! (excluding of course typical big department stores with the usual international brands.)

In terms of work, people over here (Hong-Kong, Macau, Mainland China) use Thailand most for Post Production work. There are some excellent post houses in Thailand.

And since you're around the area, you can get a cheap flight to Hong-Kong and Macau... And I would be glad to give you a tour in Macau!
