Hey all, i was looking at some other types of cameras, and was wondering this: Why havent red released a firmware upgrade to do slow motion FPS (120fps or above for scarlet, like 900 for epic) at 2k (or 1080p) in a "burst" of say 10 seconds? I know nobody high up enough is going to be reading this, but i really hope this sort of thing can be released. I mean the hardware surly can handle it, right?

EDIT: sorry guys, i spelt the poll name wrong. damn iphones...

If you are running the latest firmware you could create a custom action that set a particular frame rate for you, if that helps. It isn't a parameter that changes particularly quickly though. We are talking about a motion picture camera here without a stills mode. Everything is a burst, and you are not limited to 10 seconds. ;-)

I meant like "boost the max fps while in burst mode". For eg. The scarlet records a max of 60fps at 2k. Have a burst mode that for 10 secs, ups that 60 to 120.

Scarlet can't currently do 120 FPS @2k. You know that, right? Maybe there is a chance that it could handle that rate in a limited duration, but I'm inclined to think that it can not... At all. I suppose that is what you are wishing for?

It's funny, I think I do... Yet I'm sure I don't because it seems like a silly question, and I don't mistake your intent as silly.

Well take the Sony FS700 for example. It can do 1080 at 60p. BUT in a burst mode it can do 1080 at 120p. So im saying, if a cheap(er) camera can do that (alot of others do), why cant the scarlet?

It's a function of resolution (or frame size), compression scheme or codec and processing power. My understanding is that 2k RAW is substantially more data than other codecs @1080, so the processing and throughput requirements are higher... Apparently too high for Scarlet components.
