I'm new to editing red footage and have a quick question. I have a shot that I want to use two parts from, one is in the sun and the other is in the shade. Is there a way to split the R3D into two clips so they can have separate metadata? Or maybe something similar to subclips in fcp? I can make each part look great with the metadata but then the other part is way off. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can duplicate the clip in your file system.
You can also re-import the same clip twice into Premiere and the metadata changes are stored in the project file - so they can both be tweaked.

And.. you can also trim the clip into 2 pieces and then send an XML to REDCine and have REDcinex create 2 new clips using R3D trim.

    Lots of options.

awesome, thanks so much wes. Can't believe I didn't think to just duplicate it, that seems like the easiest. although i guess the file size would be the only issue. thanks again.
