Love the drobo concept. Wish they had a better rep for reliability, I'd be all over this.

Haha. The introduction video is almost completely the same concept as the Apple commercials and product videos.
I like drobo, maybe with my next MacBook...

The Drobo 5D & mini sounds promising. But I will wait for trusted reviews.

Even Jarred was saying how unreliable they are...they are probably great as a backup backup backup...something that you actually won't use as a main storage machine...

I bought a few of them thinking that it was just the unit...the speed would change...but sadly not.

FW800 speeds feel like USB 2 or just slightly more but nothing like I would get from a G-Raid or other brands...

Guess the upside is the ability to put any drive you want in but as far as execution goes...you'll probably see a speed difference between say a Promise Raid and Drobo knowing their rep with speed

anyway , very cool to see thunderbolt and usb3 on the same storage device. exactly what I need to meet pc and mac demands when working on both platforms.

These are the first products drobo has brought to the table that really interest me. Based on past performance and reliability (in my own experience) with drobo, I'm not going to race out and buy them. I applaud them for including both Thunderbolt and USB3 on the same device! I'll let others be the guinea pigs for this one, but if initial use reports fare well, I'm definitely interested.

I would rather wait on something from OWC before I'd trust drobo.

Ive had a drobo for some time and its worked great and has been reliable. Its been running for something like two years only turning it off during my vacations or office shut downs. I use it as my big ass scratch disk! Works great for XDCAM.
