Game changer. We thought it might be...turns out it is.
15" MBP using a Tbolt connection to a SAS raid on one of our Lily Pad Cases (carry-on Pelican).
    386MB/s write
    624MB/s read

This computer (hardly a laptop;-) is also powerful enough to render DNxHD36 and 720p H.264 simultaneously at 23fps.

    Game changer.

The Macbook Pro 15 with Retina performed just as I expected in general, and exceeded my expectations in graphics performance.

But only 1GB VRAM? At this resolution? I don't think 1GB will be the bottleneck but I'd wish put at least 2

Here here. It's also interesting to note that unlike the regular MBP the 2.3 Retina has the same amount of memory as the 2.6. First time i've seen that which seems to mean that they couldn't' get away with less for the slower version. So why didn't they give us more for the higher end one.....???

Bring on the 5k Retina Desk top monitors!

I absolutely flog my laptop! It's driving all this without a sweat!
My 12 core tower sits under my table only to be used for transcoding now.

    Michael,

Are your transcode figures from 5k footage and what app are you using to do the transcodes? Would love to hear what speeds these machines are capable of transcoding 5K Epic material to 1920x1080 pro res?

I understand the graphic card in these machines supports CUDA so would love to hear from anyone running Resolve andif they are getting good results. Apologies for all the questions.
