I've barely unpacked my bags from this years NAB!
I'm just happy playing with my epic as is.
It would be nice if BM will be will be making the next generation Red Rocket cards. Something affordable and which they can update every year.
@Marcos, I don't think BM camera is meant to go head to head with RED, I think they very smartly picked up the void left by the change in scarlet. They got the people that wanted a 2k camera. The BM camera has a serious design flaw, it has an internal battery that needs 2-4 hour to charge. How can anyone use a camera that can shoot for an hour or two (speculation on run time), then needs to be plugged in for a while.
Totally there. I'm hoping for a dedicated Red High-Speed 4k camera :-).
Thanks Jim for everything.
So you reckon you can do it twice in 10 years mate.
But remembering that your invention of a 30 FPS 4k camera 6 years ago was a sham! and everyone at NAB thought you to be mad and were stealing peoples deposits. Ha ! Those were funny days...
If you can top that, I'll be impressed. :)
It also takes an external battery, so no design flaw there. The internal battery means battery changes without shut down. The design flaw is the lens mount/flange depth on such a small sensor. Now that was stupid.
But you're right. No competition to Red, in fact nicely sidestepping everyone.
I might have to save my pennies for NAB next year. I'm smelling Monstro - maybe even 645 [drools].
And with Red and BM next door to each other it's going to cut down on a lot of walking - the two rule breakers together.
Starting the marketing campaign early. Smart. 65mm chip?
