    hi Mark
did you uncheck - Remove field jitter when video is paused in the blackmagic system preferences?
    it's on by default.
also in this control panel, you can enable 1080p, set also the default video standard for FinalCutPro X.
Aja has a seperate applications to control this stuff, Blackmagic uses a control panel in system preferences
    for this.

It is definitely an FCP issue. As Nick Shaw had already stated, Resolve plays 25P just fine for me too. Why not just try it with Resolve Lite and report your findings?

Like I said KONA cards do it fine, I'm looking at it now working. but Black magic cards can't do it? Hopeless.

Just to remind you all.. It's only a crap image when I'm paused on a frame. Playing the image is fine. The Paused frame is the ugly bit.
    Understood, you're unhappy...
But if Resolve is able to play 25P with the same card just fine, how's it a hardware issue? I have an idea. Could it be, that Resolve software is by BM and FCP is not? So, isn't the question on FCP then should be addressed to Apple?
And the image is not crap, when it is paused. It is supposed to look that way, because it is interlaced and it shows only single field:-)

Mark... I dig the way you get stuff fixed...

    Let's make a list...

    1. Playback
    2. Viewfinder
    3. Sidehandle
    4. ???
And now: Drivers for BM cards for 25p

Happy if your bitching works out well.
I have had a lot of good experiences in contacting BM directly with my issues.
But this is of course more fun! :)

I agree that the lack of 1080p25 (and 30) support is an omission, and I have sent a feature request to my contacts at Blackmagic Design. I suggest others do the same.

It's not a hardware limitation, because the UltraStudio can do 1080p25 in every application except FCP7, and it's not an FCP limitation because a Kona can do 1080p25 from FCP7. So it's something which is specifically omitted from the Blackmagic drivers for FCP7.

However I think there is something else going on with what Mark is seeing. His screen shot looks half resolution both horizontally and vertically, which would suggest that it is not an interlacing issue, but rather FCP deciding to display the output at half rez for some reason. It's worth checking the RT settings are all on full high (see attachment) because I am certainly not seeing what Mark is seeing. I have an UltraStudio 3D and can monitor 1080psf25 and see all pixels at full rez in pause.

What amazes me is the way you absolutely trash a company and their products, not the fact that FCP and the card dont play nice with eachother. Giving us Aussies a bad name....what the hell? Upset? Sure! But there's gotta be a better way to go about communicating that....especially in this day and age where posts from forum regulars like yourself carry a lot of weight.

Seem to remember that solving somethings once...

If its the same as the bm cards you can turn off remove field jitter when paused in the system preferences and that should get rid of the field drop at 1080 50i. A work around and not true p output. Just a guess though as I haven't used the ultra studio before.

    Cheers Chris
