    Mark,
Are you speaking of a specific bug in the Adobe software, or just the general issues encountered when overworking a laptop CPU? I'm accustomed to the occasional crash on my old dual core laptop when editing (and the HEAT) - is that what you're referring to? Or is there something specifically wrong with the new version of Adobe that's especially wrong?

    Thanks!

P.S. You have a kick ass body of work, Mark!

You are wright. Adobe use all the power of the computer (or notebook) and when you have reached the limit, it goes very slow. On my Nehalem 2009, I had to install fan control, and when i have to render, i put it in full mode before rendering. If I don't, I get EVERY TIME, after about 10 minutes, a kernel panic and I only can reset the computer. On the macbook, the fan is very much stressed but no kernel panic.
For my next notebook, i have bought an USB cooler

That laptop will be great for a mobile editing station. I don't fancy carrying it around for my portable workstation though. It is huge, and rather heavy...

Essentially for true portability though, I dont think you can beat the new macbook pro. Its half that MSIs weight, a 7hr plus battery life, an amazing screen. This is perfect for my location work. All I really need it for to tell you the truth. A no brainer. If a PC came out with those features I would also buy it right away... but for now, it is this new mac.

Meh... It weighs almost 9 pounds. Previous generation CPU at a lower clock rate, no Thunderbolt. The screen is 1080p, but nothing special there... All things considered, it's just a chunky notebook (even by PC standards). Price is OK, but I think one can do better for the money... Break the $2K barrier and move into the same pricing territory as the new Macbook Pro (retina or otherwise) and a lot of options open up.

FWIW, I saw the new retina MBP today. All I can say is that I'm starting to regret not ordering first thing now that the wait is 3~4 weeks out. I didn't get much of a chance to play with it... Like a minute of actual hands-on, but the screen is great. Very responsive system and the dual TB + dual USB3 seem to make it a no-brainer upgrade. Even an upgrade from my 2011 15". I won't be trading in the 17" just yet though. :)

Good thing you guys woke me up warning that the non retina is just 8 gigs of ram , and not a possible 16, so I'd rather wait then.

I've got to think last year's 17" is carrying a nice resell value right now. :)

Based on your screen-grab you are getting your gift card on the 21st and your MacBook in mid July (Between 12~18) so it is indeed 3-4 weeks...
