Hi All,

I'm setting up a 4K projection system based around the Sony VW1000ES.

And would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has been down the same or similar route (or any advice in general).

The 4K input is only via HDMI 1.5 so I'm considering using the AMD HD 7970 GPU

With some kind of fast SAS or ESATA Raid to stream the 4K media from.

My biggest question is what format and player should I use for the 4K files? Has anyone had any experience with playing out ProRes 4K or should I play out the R3D files directly from something like DaVinci, Scratch or Premiere? Am I better off using a less compressed format (but much larger) like Open EXR or DPX? My gut feeling is that I should be using a format that a media player can handle rather than the rather kludgy way of playing out through a colour grading or editing tool (but totally open to being wrong).

Really appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Hugh
