  1. #1 2 x GTX-680 2GB SLI Adobe Premiere CS6
    Hey All,

Just a question about a new PC build I am about to push the button on. I have been asked to find out if Adobe Premiere CS6 and after effects will work with SLI. I am new to this and not sure about graphics cards and such. I was going to put in a GTX-580 3GB but they aren't available from their supplier, so they have suggestion that I put in 2 x GTX-680 2GB cards. There is the 4GB card available too but it is also currently unavailable. I don't mind spending the extra money but I just want to know if it will be compatible with these programs. Thanks. Here are the PC specs:

    Intel Core i7 3930K LGA2011 3.2GHz 12M Cache 6 Cores
Asus P9X79 MB, Socket 2011 Motherboard

    Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600 RAMWestern Digital 3TB Green 64MB SATA 3 WD30EZRX
Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD
    nVidia GTX-680 2GB x 2
    2 x bluray burners
Corsair HX-1050 1050W ATX Modular Power Supply
Corsair Carbide 300R Black Mid-Tower Gaming Case

    Cheers everyone.

CS6 doesn't currently support two GPU's. Someday perhaps...

It certainly does support two GPUs, just not in SLI mode.

    Seriously ?

I thought dual GPU was only for Quadro and Tesla ? with Nvidia Maximus...

If it does support Quadro + GTX, i'm upgrading my 5.5 to 6 !

Well Quadro + GTX isn't officially supported by nVidia, but it will work. You just have to be careful to use the Quadro drivers that have a corresponding version number for the GTX, since they release Quadro drivers less frequently. In fact, this is the recommended configuration for DaVinci Resolve by BMD.

Two Quadro or Two GTX no problem though. One for monitors/Cuda, another 1 or 2 or 3 for CUDA only, don't even attach a monitor.

One thing to keep in mind is its best practice to keep all your CUDA boards in the same family though, so they are compatible with the same revision of CUDA. I've got a Quadro 5000 for monitors and two GTX 580's for CUDA, for example, which works great as they are all based on the same architecture.

Glad to read that, I have a 5000 and a 580, with the same cuda version, for resolve too and soon with CS6 :)

It's already so smooth in 5.5 in 4k half res with fx, it will be even smoother :)

The only case that i heard off CS6 could use 2 GPUs is with luigi's hackintosh where he puts a Nvidia non "GPU accelerated" supported card(less than 896mg memory) for GUI and a GTX590 for Cuda.He thought it was a bug!

After Effects CS6 does use the CUDA cores of all installed cards.
    Details here:

Premiere Pro will only use the CUDA cores on one GPU.

The GTX 680 is already used by After Effects if you install the most recent update:

We can't say what we're working on. But we can say that we make a habit of adding functionality for popular new hardware as quickly as we are able.
