    Hi guys,
I have a problem with one clip of an interview that suddenly stops. The camera man is 100% sure that he didn't stop recording during the interview. So I took a closer look at the file. The R3D is a segmented file with two parts. The first has the standard size of 4,29 Gb. The second one is 3,46 Gb. They shot 4KHD RC 18:1 which would give a data rate of 0,97 Gb/min. Watching the clip in RedCineX gives me a running time of 4:29 minutes.
So I assume that what i see in RCX is only part _001 of the R3D. When I try to open _002 it gives me a clip of black 4:40 minutes length.
Importing that _002 into Premiere gives me a warning of a not readable file.

Has anybody heard of such an issue and knows how to solve that?

    Thanks in advance!
    Matthias

is the original media still available!?
(even formatted would be ok as long as as it was not used for recording again - you can still use RED undead on it)

if it is available I'd compare the MD5 checksums of your local file and the one on the original media,
if it's different then it's most likely an incomplete transfer. If the checksum is the same then it's more likely a
problem that happened earlier in the chain (e.g. dropped frames, camera lock-up) and you'll have to dig a bit deeper...

    Servus Peter,
the original media is not longer available. The recording happened already couple of months ago and the media went back to rental.

    Hi Matthias,

How long should this clip be (runtime)? The software will automatically span multiple files to get one clip, there should be no difference opening _001 or _002.

If you want we can take a look at these files if you can put them up for download somewhere. You can email me here: rob at red dot com

    Thanks,

    Rob

Hey Rob, I sent you an email and the access to an FTP server to pull the files.
I'm really looking forward to the solution of that problem.

Have you tried placing each media clip into separate subfolders and importing it as 2 separate files?

Jeez, this topic came back up right now because the movie will be re-edited in a different version. @Rob: Did you get my files? Do you have any information about this topic?
