Our system has far less transmission power than any current cellular phone, so I'd be more worried about that phone in your pocket.

Hi,
Received my 2 Paralinx systems last week. Very quick review as I have yet to have all my cables made for my steadicam and put everything nicely up in the air.
The thing works great. I have had no hiccups at all from sender to receiver and we have a LOT of gizmo's around our cameras (4 Prestons, Cinetape, analog video senders.... ). On screen warnings are great for status. Small size is fantastic for steadicam.
My two concerns right now:
These things get HOT, both Rx and Tx get extremely hot after an hour of use. We are using them 10 hours a day. I wonder what it will mean in very hot temperatures, haven't tested that yet. Forget about velcroing the back of the receiver, that is where the air vents are; there is a nice threaded hole right in the middle and would strongly advise to use this for support instead of velcro.
Also, Dan video is showing the Paralinx sender directly plugged into the Decimator 2. It is a mystery to me as how he was able to plug it in : The HDMI socket is too close to the RCA audio connector . I could not plug it in directly, I had to open the decimator up and rip off the audio connector (I never use audio so it was painless to me) but I have to warn you guys the shipping Paralinx right now is just 2 mm too wide to plug directly into the decimator 2 (see picture).
Anyway, for the price I paid, I will probably get a couple more to complete my other kits. The Paralinx is the best price/quality video sender I have seen in the last 5 years. Congratulations to their design team.

your decimator 2 looks skinnier than mine. it just barely fits on mine and actually rubs a tiny bit.

you could use two hdmi right angles from monoprice to place the transmitter on the front of the decimator and use a small metal block or ram heatsinks as a spacer.

I know its damn convenient and super tempting but i wouldn't be plugging anything HDMI directly into anything. id be using an external male to female cable (bucket loads of all flavors on ebay) and just velcro the TX onto the body.
Plugged in directly its one knock away from being toast.

My 2 cents anyway.

This thing looks great. The only question I have is power. Did I read correctly that you supply some sort of conversion power gizmo so the transmitter can be powered direct from a Ptap source? could you post pics?
Your website really needs more pictures of the system.
But if it performs as advertised...Congrats!

Tx and Rx can be powered by mini-USB, and there are two PTAP to USB converters included with the kit, into which you can then plug a USB to mini-USB cable. Not as elegant as the ViewFactor PTAP to mini-USB, but it gets the job done.

We include a Power-Tap to 5VUSB regulator dongle that powers the transmitter.

To Power the receiver you need an additional Power-tap to 5V USB and the proper cable for the receiver side which is a usb to 5v Barrel.

We will be selling a kit with a Right Angle USB, an Additional Power tap to 5V USB, and a USB to Receiver Barrel power shortly - watch Abel Cine, Hot Rod Cameras, and see our website for other distributors.

Hi Dan,

I think that i'am the first one in Netherlands (Amsterdam) who got the sender/receiver.
Be clear that you don't use the mini USB to power the Receiver!!! Like the Sender.
I hat to make a USB cable to barrel and combined it with the Power-tap to 5V USB.
Works perfect! A little scared for the heat, i hope it last long before it meltdown :-)!
