    Hello,

I`m currently learning Premiere CS5.5, and I am working with some sample R3D clips, along with accompanying dual system audio. I`ve been syncing the audio to the R3D`s through RCX-P with timecode.

Is there a way for the newly synced dual system audio to carry over into Premiere, when I import the R3D for editing? I was hopefully it would be possible for the R3D metadata to point to the accompanying synced broadcast wave.

Loving the real time playback of RED footage in Premiere, but syncing audio/video through timecode directly in Premiere is a bit cumbersome. I would prefer to have syncing handled right in RCX-P.

    Thanks

You can export out from RED CineX to a trimmed r3D clip that will include your audio. It only takes as long as it takes to write the file to your hard drive.

    Stefan,

Can you describe the above process a bit more. I have tried every flavor of R3D Trim export with and without bwf audio and still have not been able to bring the r3d into premiere cs6 successfully with synced second source sound?

    Hi JP,

I feel your pain. I thought RCX could generate an XML or that after auto-matching the linked BWF could be referenced by an R3D's RMD and be grouped with each clip when you bring your timeline into Premiere. This is not so.

When you export R3D trim with a BWF sidecar, RCX creates individual BWF and R3D files that still need to be dragged into the timeline by hand.

Another idea I had was to bring in an XML of the picture locked Premiere edit into RCX, use auto-match to link time code stamped 2nd system audio, generate trimmed BWFs, and then re-assemble. The result was even worse because the finished edit had more than one track.

Every time a clip on V2 overlaps a longer clip on V1 the R3D trim export chops off the audio for the underlying clip. Plus, there's no way to overlay an offline edit to even see if the XML is frame accurate on import so it's a risky proposition at best.

File a support ticket with Red and ask for a feature that would allow us to export linked 2nd system audio to premiere. It would save so much time.

    Thanks Doug,

I know we are in this trap together. I have tried exporting the bwf tracks, but as you said they aren't brought in together, but all you have to do is line up and link... but is it faster then setting to marks idk. I really like your idea of syncing after, but had no spare audio to the red so need to sync before we can edit. If you have spare though you might give pluraleyes. I haven't tried it myself but heard great things. One problem I am having is that when ever I select bwf sidecar export, with the trim r3d, the audio always renders completely distorted? I'll have to file a support ticket. Will say wonderful r3d integration with adobe, but needs some assistant editor love...
