  1. #1 PosiLock Nikon mount for Epic and Scarlet
Here's the new PosiLock Nikon mount for Scarlet and Epic from Long Valley Equipment.

It has a 304 stainless positive locking ring that holds the lens very securely. A robust lever engages the lens very much like an Arri PL, BNCR, Panavision mount, etc.

This unit also has a stainless iris activation ring with a standard 32 pitch gear for use with iris controls. This allows the unit to operate the iris of all Nikon mount lenses, especially the G series which have no iris ring. The gear also functions as a thumb lever for manual use.

Shown is the mount with the Tokina 11-16.

Body is 6061 black anodized aluminum and is machined from a single billet. All components are rear loaded with no screws on the front. This results in an extremely strong mount that is also very compact and lightweight.

Rear of the mount has the proper recess to allow clearance for the camera's electronic pins, and indexing holes so that the mount may not be installed upside down.

This unit has no electronics, and is meant for those who prefer the simplicity of a manual mount.

This product is not associated with Red and does not have Red approval. It is finely made and as many of you know, we have lots of experience making mounts like these for digital motion picture cameras.

Will be posting an operational video soon.

Introductory price is $295 until July 1st. Price thereafter will be $395.

    Hey Douglas,

Looks great! Also love the price, that's a real breakthrough, congratulations.

You mention it does not have Red approval. Is this only until they evaluate and bless it or are you saying it will always void the warranty?

    Great job as always!

    Very nice looking mount.

I'm wondering if the iris ring is compatible with Zeiss ZF.2 lenses. And more specifically, the Duclos modified versions of these lenses.
Also curious if this will void the RED warranty.

Looking forward to the upcoming video.

    Thanks

    You can order immediately.

Whether or not it voids any warranty is not up to me.

I will try to make up a user video this weekend. The only things I would stress are A) power down the camera when you change any lens mount so the electronic pins are not active; B) move both the locking and iris levers counterclockwise as far as they will go before mounting a lens; C) When you mount the lens, put the witness mark at 12 o'clock and slide the lens slightly until the stud on the mount engages the slot on the lens. Most users are used to turning their Nikon lenses counterclockwise to mount, but the PosiLock works like an Arri PL in that the lens goes straight in and you turn the locking lever to tighten. Just like the current Nikon mounts that Red sells for Red One.

Doug, congratulations on a very nice looking product at a very keen price, but the above statement is a little cryptic.

For the avoidance of doubt, have you sent the mount to Jarred for testing and approval and if so with what result? If you have not yet sent the mount to RDC, do you intend to do so?

    Thanks

    Mike

I have sent the unit to Red and they have not approved the mount, nor have they said that it voids the warranty if used.

It is not up to me to speak for Red in any way. I don't think this is cryptic, just considerate.

Yes, they had a fairly clever guy come up with that one ;-)
