I just need to vent for a second. Why is it that people feel the need to take things that aren't theirs? This weekend I lost a Canon 7D, rails, follow focus, monitor and support gear due to a car break-in. All reported to the police and insurance. I'll get it all back through the insurance check, but I never thought I'd feel the way I do. It's violation. It's anger, hate, and a flood of other things. I used that camera to make my first serious short. It has been rented to many people to make their projects happen, it's captured a lot of moments and it has, strangely, sentimental value for something that wasn't a gift or childhood keepsake. All I want is the bastards caught. It will never happen, and it's certainly not worth as much monetarily as my Red, but, honestly, I haven't shot anything of my own on the RED. I haven't had it for that long. My Canon has been with me for almost 2.5 years and seen me leave my day job to be in film full time. Argh! Just fucking retarded.

Thanks for bearing with me. I know you guys understand.

    Know how you feel,
We had 5 burglar attacks at our office during the last two years. It's a bit scary, It all made me realize that I could easily kill a person if I catch them in action.

I feel the same! I've thought so many times about getting a concealed carry license. I mean, these guys broke in with crowbars, so they would have been armed with deadly weapons. What if I had come back during the break in?

Had a Canon 70-200 F/2.8 II, EPIC Quick Release Plate, Top Handle and some other accessories stolen from our car last month in Hollywood, Florida. Even though I got the insurance check back... it's still pissing me off.

Well look at it this way... at least your face didn't get eaten off by a naked zombie.

I usually never do... was heading into Le Tub restaurant on a rainy day... non production day... just going around town looking for something to shoot with my girlfriend. Forgot that the 70-200 was in my backpack... luckily the thieves didn't go into the trunk of the car. One of the days that I slipped up they got me. A few weeks before had a shoot around the same location and brought everything into the restaurant with me... backpacks, camera case, etc. I usually do that on production days due to a fear of being followed. It's definitely thought me to be even more vigilant.

Judging from the majority of thefts that I hear about, they are either left in car or some scam artist at a rental house. I don't ever leave my camera unattended in my car. I've even dragged my camera into a restaurant with me to eat after a shoot with the crew. Even then I have a Viper alarm system in my car with a two-way communicator and an ITURAN gps tracking system. I also keep things locked in the trunk with the trunk release locked from the interior. I'm a little paranoid about that stuff but I feel the majority of these cases are inside jobs where someone you were dealing with knew you had the camera.
