Hey guys, prepping to start using CS 6 Premier for editing narratives, I am wondering if you setup your SCRATCH drive as a separate drive similar to the Final Cut Pro configuration?

So I have 1.2GB available and plan on using RAID 0, backing up all media on external drives. Should I make two volume partitions of the 1.2gb or leave it as one?

If breaking up makes sense, which does to me. What is a suitable size for the SCRATCH disk? 400gb apps / 800gb SCRATCH? 600/600?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think it's bad practice to use partitions w/ regards to a scratch disk. Have a drive (or pair in Raid0) as a scratch and nothing else.

If you partition your HD or RAID the heads will have to seek farther than if you put the scratch on the same partition.

So, try to setup a different drive or RAID for the scratch.

what about space considering editing R3d footage? How big does the scratch space need to be?
