if shut down REDmote while charging, will it continue to charge?

Rather than leave the screen on, I was wondering if the REDmote would continue to charge if you shut it down using the REDmote menu?

And is there any indication (if the screen is left on), that it's finished charging?

No, it cannot charge while off.

get an iphone charger and use it with a usb to mini usb cable.

If you plug power into a REDmote that is off it will turn on and charge. But if you turn it off while it is charging it will not continue to charge. It will most likely always be this way.
