I am shooting some high speed stuff at 2K and 3K and I need a really wide lens. I don't have big lens rental budget and it's a docu style shoot. Do you think the Canon 8-15mm will still have distortion with the 2k and 3k crop? I've seen a few shots with the lens at 5K and it seems most of the distortion was around the edges.

I have used the Tokina/Duclos 11-16 and it didn't impress. It was a bit soft. I would like to keep a Canon mount lens since all of the other lenses for this shoot will have the same mount.

This lens is a fisheye. I have it in LA if you want to have a look through the viewfinder.

Maybe you got a bad sample from Tokina regarding the 11-16mm. Ours is sharp, but we looked at three of them in the shop. Looks like sample variation is much bigger in still lenses than in PL glass – which is to be expected with the price point. Give it another try!
