  1. #1 Clicking noise – only when recording, not monitoring
I'm having some problems recording audio on the Scarlet.
When I have my Sony wireless mic plugged into the body, it sounds great when monitoring. But as soon as I press record, the camera will monitor and record a fast clicking noise along with the regular audio. Its not a power hum, but it has sort of the same clicking frequency.

I also have a sennheiser wired microphone plugged in with no noise problem at all when recording.

I've tried switching the jack-xlr cables and tried switching the ports, but with no luck.

    Has anyone tried this before?

(Also, I usually record with my H4n, but I'd just like it to work with the body in case I should ever need it)

I've added a small amplified sample of the noise:

I have the same problem. Different mic though. I just figured that it was because of the absence of phantom power but maybe not if you're having the problem too.

    Casper,
It seems that this happens only with Sony wireless.
    i have the same issue.
i event sent my camera to Red for few days.
    came back and same problem.
i finally gave up on the sony and started to use me sennheiser shotgun with phantom power and got beautiful sound.

This is the pl mount thing... change firmware and or put a small tape over the connectors on the mount.. so it becomes a "dead mount" it's the electronics of the mount that trys to connect to your non electronic lenses. A listed bug on some of the previous firmwares. the latest one should have it addressed I think, as Bob mention above.

I have the same issue on my epic... I have a service tag set up to send it in to Red but i have not had a work window to allow me... The epic keeps me busy!! Luckilly, we only use it to recors scratch, and the clicking is fine for that

I have the latest build and it hasn't fixed it at all. I wonder what it could be.

Did you try record with no lens and no lens cap? If it's clicking then it's not the mount...

If the clicking stops, look into isolating the connectors of the Ti PL mount...

Glad to see I'm not alone :-)
I have a Canon mount, but that has electronics in as well - so I guess it might be the same problem?
I just think it's curious that it only happens when the camera is recording

I'll try without a lens on and see if that helps

    Thanks for all your suggestions
