As I start my adventure down the RED path of cinema excellence I was hoping on the bare bones setup to begin learning my camera. Scarlet brain with SSD and canon mount, redvolt, SSD 64 GB, redmote, bomb EVF, travel charger. And of course lens. Then add as I go. This adds up to $16,920. Seems like a good way to get started. Any suggestions?

I would go touch LCD instead of the EVF. And then don't get the Redmote until later...no need.

Yeah I would choose the LCD too and you don't need the remote either. But you will need the side handle if you are going with the redvolt. You better add a few of those batteries.

You may be better off swapping the Bomb EVF for a Touch LCD, and using the left over cash on extra media and power.

When filming outdoors I have trouble seeing the image on the LCD. Also I hear the new EVF is amazing.

What options do I have for power rather then revolt? I like the battery belt idea.

If money is no object then yes, the new Evf is nice. If money is an issue, there a other EVF options like the ones from zacuto.

The scarlet X AL Canon mount collection and add the EVF sounds perfect. Getting close to $20K. Time to check out zacuto and x. I've been following RED since 2008 and have never been closer to actually getting this camera. I feel like I've climbed the ladder to the high dive and am about to dive off. Scarey but thrilling all at the same time!
