The final video out of after effects took about 25minutes. Then when i merged it with the audio in premiere to ProRes LT for uploading onto YouTube it took like only 3minutes. The thing that took the longest was uploading the 4.61GB file to youtube which took about 9hours - but please note that i uploaded it on a simple comcast internet connection, i'm sure if i had a faster internet it would have taken much less.

Any adjustment I made in terms of color/relighting/paint out, etc that would usually require me to re-cahced was almost but eliminated by AE new global performance cache, if i made an adjustment i didn't like it i could just click undo and i could playback my previous cached preview.

When working at 4k files it was nice to not have to spend 5 minutes of rendering just to see what i previously had.

Did you have any other questions?
That's great. Was just curious what aspects of it you used for this film. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick update It's crazy that less than a minute of 4K video is almost 5GB. I created a 4K Prores file from a short we did to show someone the difference in detail between 4K and 1080p and it was almost 2GB for a very short 4K clip. RED has done an impressive job with Redcode to get such amazing quality 4K at such a decent file size with their .R3Ds.

Awesome work Jacob. I'm about to start some finishing work in AE. I have a similar machine. I really want to see your tutorial. In the meantime, would it be possible to elaborate a bit on what your workflow was?

Editorial in Premiere, finishing in AE, export to (DPX?), import into PPro and add audio, export to prores LT? That was just a guess, I'm trying to nail down a decent workflow for 5k and 4k footage for a 4k finish. Dynamic linked AE clips in PPro are a hassle for me at the moment.

What i generally did was edit the r3d in Premiere and then brought that sequence over to AE where i removed the wires and added the effects and did my initial color. From there i rendered out the whole piece at ProRes 444 to Premiere for sound and then ProRes LT for YouTube.

This last video i did on New Zealand, edited in Premiere and then brought it over to DaVinci Resolve where i colored in sRGB color space and then sent that back to premiere for sound and titles.

Again, i'm better at talking then typing so i'll post a YouTube tutorial of the whole thing later next week as i have shoots the rest of this weekend and through the first of next week.
