What is the final resolution you finish your work? If it's any of the 4K options please provide info where you display your 4K material thanks.

    2K includes 1080p.

Not screening 4k yet, and doing +2k mostly for testing purposes. Fun to do, though, and there is a couple of cinemas here in Oslo where stuff can be screened @4k. Will finnish 3 shorts in 4k now in may.

Sounds probably strange, as I am repeatedly pointing out that most finnishing is happening in 2k/1080. But as I have stated, me the geek likes the 4k options.
It's just not commercialy viable yet. Here.

I am a bit practical an non-religious about these things...

If SD is the right finnishing format... let's finnish in SD. :)

"Finish" is kind of ambiguous. I usually comp in 4k or 5k (native) and then render out to 1080p.

I finish at 2K or less, but if it's a composite, I'll do that at 4K or higher like Gavin does.

Compositing is one of the areas I'm really glad I shoot Red. :)

    Features I do at 1080p.

Anything for YouTube or Vimeo I do at 720p.

But most goes out as PAL for DVD.

No one ever wants 4k output. What would they do with it?

When HD was almost out i offered the company i was working to purchase HD equipments.
there was a lot of resistance as nobody was broadcasting HD at that time.
    i offered 2 questions;
    1- is HD out?
2- is the quality of HD content superior to that of SD?
I won that argument and just recently, I re-visited those projects originated in HD but delivered in SD and re-rendered them in HD.
the client was speechless to see his SD and ugly early flash videos in crisp HD quality after many years.

I think those questions are still valid today. So for that reason, even though i have to deliver my projects in HD today, the opportunity to come back and re-transcode to 4K in future is liberating.

Work at as high as possible - much better comps and keys that way. Then output 1080p to client AND archive at full 4k.
