Any downsides to the DP Rouge lenses? I was using them on a show last week and noticed that the zoom ring wouldn't quite stay still. If I did a quick snap zoom, I noticed the lens would slowly zoom out by itself depending on how quick my snap was. Do they rent out often enough to justify the price? I'm mainly a prime guy but the pictures coming off the Angie's are very nice.

    Hi Rick,

    You like them ?

How do you compare the image to your K35s ?

Do you have any A/B stills ?

    Thanks

Just tested a new 16-42. Lens rings are very free moving but no creep from the zoom ring as you describe.

How do you like the lens? How long of a wait did it take you? Where did you get it from?

Private party purchase. Might be more Angies coming on the market now with the Fuji 19-90mm badass power zoom lens coming soon. You could shoot an entire feature on that thing and it's small and lightish. Me . . . I likie the French/English lens look to the Japan/German. RED is all the sharp you need . . . at times maybe too sharp. Focal point roll off to me is the key to beauty and skin tone flavor shots. Angies and Cooke seems to do a good job with that and the Optimos and Panchros are a bargain when compared to their peers. For low light I use my Canon 1.2 - 1.4 primes so F2.8 on the cine lenses is fine. Plus maybe Dragon will be a native 2500 ISO ; - )

The Optimos are the best lenses I've used with Epic, as long as T2.8 isin't a limiting factor (it hasn't been for me) then the image quality is right up there with the best primes and I honestly like the color rendering better than Cooke or Zeiss. If you had zoom creep then it just needs a checkup at Duclos, no biggie. My DP's have paid for themslves in under 2 years, fantastic investment but of course you need to keep them working. The only downside at the moment is the wait, and that there isn't a 70-200mm or 10:1 DP lens to go with my 16-42 & 30-80.

We have two sets of DP Rouges and they rent constantly at top rate. The image is very nice, on par with the big Optimos of which we also own two sets.

creeping.. just cut the legs off!

these rouges are very good for Digital with their telecentric lens and all. we have a few and had to watch the older ones though. if the rear group extends more than 31mm, don't try them on the EPIC. it'll hit the pastic frame. Angie has a mod for it. as for the zoom creep, i added a mod to the zoom barrel (internal). it held but increase the torque slightly to about the same as the focus. happy with it now.
