Thinking about purchasing the highly acclaimed O-Box...currently I'm using a lot of x accessories, and I want to make sure that mounted via 15mm (studio spaced) rods, it will reach the height of the lens.

Im using the Brideplate with the easy-riser to put the epic at standard lens height. From the pictures, it doesn't look like the O-Box will reach that high..am I correct? Do I have to add the LW15 bracket and add another set of rods...I really didn't want to have to do that.

NEED HELP. See post on next page with images.

Chris. Shoot an email to Ryan at WC. He'll be able to help you out. He's has helped me with several configurations for my cameras.

    Chris-

You are correct in that the O-Box comes with lws 15mm.

You can buy an extra piece from Oconnor that switches it out to studio 15mm rods. I think this is the piece but I would double check with someone from O'Connor. They are pretty helpful.

Thanks guys. Just don't want to shell out the coin unless it's going to work. :-) Will try your suggestions.

If I'm not mistaken, you must buy that piece + the rod bridge.

That depends... The O Box comes with 15mm LWS just like my Arri MMB-1.

If you get the Easy Riser + 15mm LW Bracket then you're good to go. If you get the 19mm or 15mm Bridgeplate then you need the appropriate adapter for the O Box (unless you also get the Easy Riser + Bracket).

I use the VF FMJ Baseplate + their 15mm LWS Bracket to mount my MB. Same basic design as the WC and works well. I mount an ET Bridgeplate on the bottom of that to use Arri Dovetails and it also gives me standard 19mm Studio mounting under the camera, should I need it.

Hope that helps.... but call Ryan. He is top notch and will surely sort you out.

I have an O-box and I use x accessories. This is what you need:

    http://www.x.com/easy-riser-epic
    http://www.x.com/lw-15mm-bracket

    ...and rods of course.

There may be an adaptor you can get for the O-box that you can use to change form lw to studio spacing. Not sure.

    Hi Guys,

The x Stuff is great! As mentioned above the Easy Riser adapts the Red One baseplates to the Scarlet/ Epic cameras; both the original ones from Red and the newer Element Technica Hybrid Plates. The originals were either 19mm studio or 15mm studio; the hybrid could be adapted for both by changing the front and rear brackets.

You are correct the O-Box is native 15mm LWS. It can be adapted to either studio rod standard; there are two ways to do this:

    OConnor Solution:

15mm Studio you need the 15mm Studio Adapter C1243-1119 AND the O-Grip Three System Rod Bridge C1244-1002

19mm Studio you need the 19mm Studio Adapter C1243-1118 AND the O-Grip Three System Rod Bridge C1244-1002

The advantage to this route is that it allows for O-Grips to be added to the left, right and center of the rod bridge for a lower center of gravity handheld rig.

This disadvantage is that you have to remove the 15mm LWS bracket that comes on the O-Box using two 3mm captitive Allen screws and replace it with either studio adapter and then mate this with the rod bridge.

    Third Party Solution:

Plug and play adapter from Abel Cine part AB-1515 http://www.abelcine.com/store/Abel-U...-15mm-to-15mm/

Plug and play adapter from Abel Cine part AB-1519 http://www.abelcine.com/store/Abel-U...-15mm-to-19mm/

The advantage to this is that you do not have to remove the native 15mm LWS bridge on the O-Box, it just "plugs in" and adapts to the studio rods. These can also be used to adapt most any native 15mm item (mattbox, follow focus, etc.) to studio rods so they serve more than one purpose for various rod supported accessories.

The disadvantage is that when using O-Grips they can only be mounted to the mattbox itself unless the Three System Rod Bridge is attached to the rods as an extra piece.

My short paper on rod standards can be viewed here http://www.ocon.com/labs/rod-standards.html

    Hope this helps-

I don't need the O-grips...do I still need both of those 15mm adapters you linked?

This is a good solution and I'm loving its solidness. I particaulry like the o-grips coming of the rod bridge.

Eric J. Johnston... for Red Epic/Scarlet systems you really need to consider makeing (or perhaps Ryan could be persuaded) a nato clamp that takes the ogrip properly. At the moment I somthimes use these http://www.x.com/nato-clamp but till I get a slot machined out the center they are not 100% ideal...

    I reckon you'd sell a load more O-grips.. ;-)

    what do you think?
