How are you guys mounting your mics to the Red exactly?
Bueller?
I haven't heard that anyone is mounting their mics to RED yet. I'm eagerly awaiting the mounting solution and the state of the fan noise..
I have my mic mounted on a Rycote Multimount mounted to a side rail on the cam. Works well.

But the mic preamp hiss is still poor.
So far SILENT mode is the only mode that seriously cuts off that fan noise. I've read posts by RED on these boards that say VARIABLE should do the trick, but it doesn't do the trick for me.
On SILENT mode the fan is noisy in between shots, but when you hit record, the fan goes DEAD.
I put the RED LCD on a longer Noga, and use the RED arm to hold a mic mount. I feel the RED arm is too short especially for hh use.
Thanks Ken: how did you mount the Rycote to the rail?
The hiss makes the mic level practically unusable don't you think? Although we could eq everything we record I suppose (yawn).
If silent mode is the only one that seriously cuts off the fan noise, how long does it last for? According to RED's specs, we can only really use Silent for a short time if it is pretty cold out. So where does that leave the sound, practically speaking?
