Is this showing anywhere on the West Coast in 4K? Anyone hear of plans of it showing in 70mm print?
I'll wait for blue ray as well... Sadly not enough or any 4k screens in AUS either.
Sadly my blue ray of BARAKA is crap... so disappointing. I hope they do a better blue ray conversion to with this movie.
Samsara website has it listed as it will be shown in 4k
Was wondering if any of my REDbroz have ever been to the specific Landmark theater and have an impression of the equipment and facility. Like said - in Diego Landmark theaters show great films but have very dated equipment. A flick like this should be viewed and heard at the highest level.
Sidebar: anyone else noticed that the BluRay remasters of classic films look ok but sound like shit? It's like they put 95% of the resources into the visual image then combine that with a very AM radio quality soundtrack. Just watched 2001, Raising Arizona and Life of Brian - same audio issue in all.
Just saw "Samsara" in 4K at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema in NYC -- it was amazing! And the 65mm photography was great. The last movie I saw was the IMAX print of "Dark Knight Rises" with some non-efx IMAX shots being contact-printed from the o-neg, so that's two large format film productions in a row that I've seen. What's great about large format film is that you get the clarity and fine-grain of digital but all the beauty of film, it's lovely to look at.
