Why this is not an international contest or at least also for red international Epic , scarlet owner? Red is international and Vogue also . This is really Unfair !!!

Thank the lawyers.. or more so contest rules dictated by each country... not Vogue Or RED's decision. To have an international contest.. the legal fees just to set it up to accomodate with laws from each country would be so cost prohibitive it would cost many, many times the prizes let along all other costs involved.

This makes sense. You identify the top talent based on their skill, not camera choice and then see what they can all do with a level playing field, i.e. RED cameras. Looking forward to the results. I think this is the first time a RED camera has been given away correct? Very cool idea. Someone is going to be very happy at the end of this.

And if you havent shot editorial for major fashion magazines, they are not going to represent you no matter how "good" your photos are.. The fashion industry is more competitive than the motion picture biz, and the rates paid to photogs are much higher than to "DP's. When I was shooting back in the 90's, the rate to shoot JCrew was 3500 per day, plus expenses. Talbots, a lesser catalogue was 2500.and these were 8 hour days..

1) About the panel "mentorship..." I think it's about getting your work in front of good people, just the chance to hear a bit of advice. You're right, you're not getting a Vogue cover or representation out of this, but it's the chance to move in that direction.

2) Rates are now quite a bit higher. Editorial is all exposure and rep, advertising w/ usage deals will pay for a few Epics in a few days...

3) I cannot wait, cannot wait to try for this. If one works with a partner--Mert and Marcus, Inez and Vinoodh--can we submit a portfolio together?
