Has anyone tried either the Novoflex http://www.cameratown.com/news/news....#axzz0umU8fMDn
    or the Rayqual http://www.cameraquest.com/frames/4saleReos.htm
Nikon to Canon mount adaptors for Nikon G lenses? I have converted my Zeiss ZF glass with Hoida adaptors for the Epic canon Mount but would love to use my awesome Ninon 14-24mm zoom. This is a G lens so it needs iris control and both the adaptors above offer this. The Novoflex worries me as the iris lever may contact the EVF plug on the Epic body. Anybody been here?

Tom, these adapters don't have aperture markings, so you can't say what your exact aperture is at any given moment.

I'd rather get an Optitek Nikon mount, or wait for RED electronic one. The Al version is going to be only $800, so that's not a huge amount of money.

P.S.: No matter how good the adapter is it will develop play with time. When you're using the right mount instead of the adapter you don't have problems with this.

    Tom,

I agree with everything that Demetri says in his post. I especially do not like having the exact aperture settings. I am waiting for the RED Nikon mount but I have the Novoflex adapter so that I can use my Nikon lens now. There is no problem with the iris lever hitting the EVF connector. There is about a 0.5 inch (~12mm) clearance. It works, it is just not ideal.

Thanks for the confirmation on the Novoflex adaptor. While the Nikon mount would be ideal I have committed to Canon glass due to the correct focus direction. The 14-24 Nikon is probably the only nikon mount lens I intend using as it kicks Canons ass so the adaptor is better than changing mount for the one lens

I am happy to compromise as big jobs tend to be shot PL anyway

I bought the Fotodiox adapter. http://www.fotodiox.com/product_info...roducts_id=571
It does the job nicely and at a reasonable price i would definitely recommend it.
Works great on my Nikon 50mm 1.4 G Lens but i have to admit that i didn't realize at the time of purchase that even though it has a manual aperture ring you cannot change the ISO in-camera which means that even fully open at 1.4,
if you're trying to shoot in a low light situation you may find that you cannot expose properly.
I'd imagine the same goes for the two adapters you mentioned above as they both look very similar.

Just a heads up if you weren't aware of this already....

Why would you not be able to change the iso on the Epic with that adapter? The Iso should be totally independent of what mount or lens you are using...no?

Who said the Nikon Aluminum mount is gonna cost $800? Last I heard is was gonna be $700. I get the impression some of you want things to be more expensive, like you feel guilty that such high quality products are so accessible...hahaha

    Tom,

Amoung all those things posted above, the Novoflex adaptor is one of the better ones I've tried and if you need the quick and less expensive solution for your own work, I think it serves well for the price. But you would want to fit it with your lens in person since I've tried few and each were little different in fitting tightness.
