    Hi guys,

I'm currently based in London, but I'm looking for a change of scenery. To live in Australia has always been a dream of mine and it feels like to right time to start the ball rolling.

I wanted to get some advice really. I'm a freelance DP. I usually work on commercials, promos and I've just booked my first two features for this summer.

Is there work in Australia? I'm guessing Sydney is the hub. What type of work is available? What kind of rates could I be charging?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated guys.

Any major city is good and you can build some new relationships. Rates vary, but just the weather is worth coming down for.
If you are in Sydney or Tassie let me know and I will buy you a beer and introduce you to the locals

Sydney is by far and large the biggest centre for film and television in Australia, followed by Melbourne. Brisbane only has a low-moderate amount of production and the other state capitals the volume of production would be considerably less again. If I had to guess, 75% of productions are Sydney based, even if the shoot locations are Australia wide. The only downside Sydney is arguably ranked as the most expensive city in the world to live:)
