Found an incredible desk for new studio space and badly wanted to get this one (two of them in fact), but the shipping estimates were more than the price of the desk itself. Bummer. Can anyone suggest something that would be similar? Shipping to Nevada, USA.

Was specifically interested in the Xtra Big Slab shown here: http://www.mybigdesk.com/desk.php?cid=6

    Thanks!

I don't know how handy you are, but if it were me, I'd go to homedepot and buy the material and build it myself. This is very simple design, and its measurements are very easy to guess by looking at it, that one being about 88"' wide and 30" tall, 36" deep

In other words, the size of a door. Which is what I use for my desks. Large, cheap -- hard to beat.

Edit: Looks like William beat me to it.

seriously, get two pieces of wood (doors are good), cut one in half, sand & stain... stack. attach. you'll enjoy yourself, especially when you realize you just made a desk and it only cost you $50

if you really want to pay $1,500 for a desk... bring me out there for vacation and i'll build you one, or i'd be happy to show you how to do it. :)

When I got my own office years at a studio years ago, my desk was a door propped up on two short filing cabinets. It had a great depth to it to allow monitors, keyboards, and room for a good sized Wacom tablet.
