... truly something to get excited about. Nikon G primes are a good choice for fast, edge sharp open, light primes at a great price. Super for light weight epic rigs.

    Hi Brian,
Seems like September 7th is the day!

I almost missed Jarreds quote last week: "Shipping September 7th for both Titanium and Aluminum version."

Woots! This will be a good early birthday present (for myself :) I don't own a Scarlet or Epic but I have a set of Nikon G primes and the 14 - 24, so having the ability to rent a body and bring my own glass and mount is appealing. Obviously still glass has mechanical limitations and is only appropriate for certain styles of shooting, but optically I've fallen in love with this glass. I also have a set of Nikkor manual primes (as I'm sure many do) so I'm really excited for this possibility as well. I love the look of old "imperfect" glass dirtying up the Epic's beautiful, crisp RAW files.

One thing I'm wondering about: with how light most still glass is, how necessary is the Ti mount? I understand it limits back focus shifting in extreme temperature variation etc but how often is back focus important when not using proper PL cine glass? I guess I mean that with still glass you'll probably be focus pulling off the monitor anyways... Thoughts?

If you want to be able to put on one of Nikon's larger telephoto lenses without support, then you'll probably want to shell out for the Ti. Otherwise, I don't see much of a need for it.
