    Hi,
    .
Knowing that 3 Rolls of 35mm won't make a shooting day I suspect that 3 CF cards won't do it as well.

Uploading, reformatting in the field is possible but takes time. Backing up data is nothing for a rush.

IMHO, get at least 8 CF cards.

    Hans

EDIT: Saw that you ordered a REDRaid. Well, I don't consider harddisks realiable enough for real life production. Might be wrong though.

Do you need an extra EVF cable and LCD cable? They are already included with the EVF and LCD.
I would take minimum 3 universal mounts.
    Cheers

How about adaptors for those mini plugs. Do you have those?

In regards to your power packs...I would just get one and order another battery or two. As long as you have your batteries charged before you go on a gig and keep a good rotation as they go down that should be sufficient.

I also agree that you will need a few more CF cards...remember you should keep a previous build or two (that you can store on CF's) if your current version crashes or what not, and you will also need more "camera rolls". It will hold about 4 1/2 minutes at 4K and will need to be downloaded. You want to make sure you can still shoot while all of this is going on.

Also, unless you are doing all studio work I would stay away from the raid drive (at least for now) until it's track record gets established.

The LCD and EVF will come with cables already and unless you want a back up cable (which is a good idea) you don't need to spend this money right off the bat.

I have my own opinion about the RED handles. I've worked with them and don't think they are that great...they come loose a lot and require constant tightening. I also have my own opinion about not using handles for hand held. I prefer to hold onto the matte box but I won't get into that for now...some people get really upset by this.

IMHO, I also don't think you really need the handle ext, or the side handles except for vanity reasons. You can get away with just the top handle. Especially if you are going to be switching a lot between hand held or steadicam mode to studio mode. There are a lot of bolts to take off. If time is an issue please consider.

    Regards

Apparently previous builds can go on an SD card which can be around 256MB is really cheap and fits in a little slot near the front. The good news is... the builds have gotten very stable, so I think swapping builds will be a rarity these days.

Nothing wrong with having back up cables. Highly recommended. Nothing worse than having a $200.00 cable go down, causing production to shut down for a day or two while you have a replacement shipped out. :waaa:

You may want to confirm with RED if the EVF and LCD cables may be wired the same, if so, only get a spare LCD if it can be used on both devices, and spend the money on a back up drive cable.
