AMEN... (not saying your a GOD or anything)... but still these very simple facts are or so logical. It just dumb founds me why a lot of people (on this forum) think opposite to this logic.

O well.. thats why people prefer coke over pepsi... IBM over MAC... Oakley over Ray bans... It's what makes the world go around.

Years ago I remember seeing images that came into the studio off a Red One and that really did something to me. Working on the material for a while in post and following the progress of the company and camera closely only made me more interested. Mysterium X landed and that was a major hook in my mouth. By the time I went to a "Red Day" and saw what Epic was all about I was bit overwhelmed by how much I desired one. Working on some Epic material and actually shooting with one only made me want it more. Then sitting there on the November 3rd after being somewhat extremely underwhelmed by the previous announcement that day and seeing Scarlet X become more than what we expected... I had to pull the trigger and really get on board.

Red gave me a raw workflow, upgrade paths, regular free firmware/software updates, enough resolution to produce cinema quality imagery, a great deal of latitude, enough color depth to twist as I desire, and what I would call an exceptionally friendly post pipeline. I can put any lens on my camera and it freaks me out.

These are not just the things I want, these are things all filmmakers want. Red's been leading and paving the way for years. I appreciate the hard work that goes into these machines by the entire Red team. I haven't been happier shooting with any other system. And damn, when you see the material you shot projected it's just bloody gorgeous. Blows me away every time.

IMHO... a Pro should shoot the best original he/she can afford to shoot. It never hurts.

Shooting RAW is infinitely better than shooting an RGB codec. For a million reasons.

Upgrading a camera is cheaper than buying new cameras... over and over.

Having the ability to use many lens options/brands is better than being stuck with one.

Shooting a small camera is easier than shooting a big one... for a variety of reasons.

Free software and firmware upgrades that add features... is good.

    Over-sampling is better than up-rezzing.

A company that listens seems better than a company that dictates.

Companies that actually deliver the future are better than those that pretend the past "is good enough".

    Pretty easy stuff...

Unfortunately, none of the above accounts for the single most important decision factor - emotion and subjectivity. Anyone can choose to shoot on C300 over Epic because "it looks nicer" (on a 2K display) or Final Cut Pro / OS X over Premiere / Windows because "it feels nicer" (using transcoded ProRes material) and there is no argument against it even though there are clear objective merits for the choice foregone. The good news is we have choice, the rest is up to the consumer.
