thanks
and now the dump question : can the server be my computer connected to internet and so i provide address to todailies ?
or have to be a web FTP storage space ?
thanks
g
The server is your computer, as long as they are on same network they will find each other.
I'm totally into LivePlay from the very beginning. But as far as I see it's pretty dependent on the Cube or any encoder that can interprete the record flag in the SDI stream.
I'm now planning a setup where there is no record flag because the camera signal gets pushed through a vision mixer for live keying.
So I assume there is no other way than manually triggering the Cube, which works fairly poor on the browser interface because you don't get any signal if recording/encoding or not.
Are there any alternatives to Teradek's Cube for the proxy recording on the fly?
some questions
Does todailies support other formats then h.264? say dnxhd in some flavor? or perhaps one day even r3ds? any plans for this? even if not in this version?
where can i find tech specs and more info about liveplay and todailies? i was at may 2011 reducation remote in nyc so i am familiar with your products, but not a user of them and i just want to find out more info now that i am a scarlet DIT, and not a hobbyist any more...thanks!
Hi Brian-
As of now, Todailies only supports H.264. One of the reasons is because the iPad is designed as a wireless device, it is not optimized at all to stream files other than the flavors in the H.264 family. For example, the smallest format of DNxHD (36Mbs) would barely be streamable in real-time to a single iPad. The average R3D would be 650Mbs. Impossible to currently stream in real-time to a single iPad. So with current Wifi technology, the issue isn't flavor support, it's file type efficiency. If you can't play an R3D in real-time across the internet, it's going to be difficult to do the same to an iPad, even on a closed network.
You can learn about the system on the lightiron.com website. Check back often as we will be launching a few training videos. In my opinion, some of the best learning is learning that can be done on one's own. This is one of the reasons LiVE PLAY and Todailies are priced at $9.99.
