Does anyone have any advice on HD B4-Mount zoom lenses with regard which of them has the largest focal plane image area and will be less likely to vignette through part of its zoom range without the doubler selected.

Any advice will be muchly appreciated.

I like the canon HJ17x lens.. cant remember if you need the doubler engaged.. the SD j17x7.8 will have dark corner vignettes at wide open aperture up to 8mm focal length without doubler engaged... and if you stop down past about 2.8 it goes away even full wide...
I am not thrilled about performance of the doublers on any of these lenses on HD, let alone on 2k or higher resolution...
    they seem to be soft...

    Chris.

Thanks for your response and advice. I was within the near vicinity of a loaned Canon HD lens for a day but regrettably I did not copy the model number. I was not the camera operator so did not get my hands on it. The operator chose focal lengths which did not vignette. An old TV-Nikon lens yields an acceptable image but is noticeably soft at the long end when the doubler is selected.
