As the camera warms up and approaches the temperature just before the fan kicks on full (hopefully, with the fan set 25-45%), I'm curious if the noise levels change?

I would guess it generates more heat when recording, or at least this should be the case when the energy management features are implemented. So that, even if you keep the camera turned on, the internal temperature can change while recording?

Has any testing been done when recording at 320/800 to see how much noise is introduced when the camera is at certain internal temperature ranges of plus and minus that are different from the temperature at which it was black shaded?

Would be cool to have this type of specific data on BS - but I do not believe it has ever been published. Mostly user generated anecdotal observations and misinformation on this subject. It's seems to be kinda the Area 51 of RED for whatever reason.

Just finished interviews where the temp reached 74 degrees and the fan kicked in. There was no noticeable increase in noise in the image. I wish that the fan could be on a higher setting and still be quiet enough for sound.

    1. At what temperature did you black shade?

    2. what ISO are you shooting at?

My intuition tells me that the worse the lighting, the greater the temperature deviation from when black shaded will matter.

So, some tests at low light would be interesting while it warms up from black shade temp to 74 degrees?

I do my black shade at 32C censor temp.
I'v got good low light results with this.

    (Fan kicks in at 42C @ 100% and lower to approx. 70% @ 40C)

After my tests. It's almost as important to have the cam in the temp of the black shading as the right shutter speed.
