Can some one please build and release a software that actually works with r3d's. Forget all the damn bells and whistles. Quit releasing new whizz-bangs. I want the basic function of cutting and color grading. Without spending days on end trying to make a software do these basic functions. Is this too much to ask?

I think it may help if you elaborate on your current workflow. What software/hardware are you currently using?

Does it matter? Is anything really running smoothly? I've been on the Red bandwagon since it's inception. I've been shooting and cutting nothing but Red since. I'm glad it's been ground-breaking, I'm glad new inventions are hitting the market every day, as a result of Red. But what I really want is something solid and reliable. I was cutting FCP and Eld'ing through Clipfinder to AE fro grading. Bugs, headaches and all - but stunning results in the end. I keep trying Adobe, Premiere and After Effects, but the reinstalls, pain of porting to AE, no speed changes being carried over, slow response, and constant errors - well enough of this. I can't stand in any more.

Do I go Avid, is there a sane way of going FCP then over to Resolve, perhaps assimilate scratch, but I don't want to go offline and then online (if I have to and the transition is smooth, without all the typical hell involved with things not conforming). Is anyone really getting good results.

Why invent another handle to attach to the Epic. Someone invent something that works for post - please.

Assimilate Scratch. It's not cheap but I've been running it for a few weeks now and it hasn't crashed once. Rock solid. Can use my MC Color surface, Wacom tablet (with mouse). No problem and their support is amazing. Received e-mail and phone calls on the weekend to make sure I'm up and running. Awesome stuff.

A quote that Michael Cioni said during the RED Post course earlier this year was "Most problems you encounter are not technological problems, they are personal problems that are results of poor administrative decisions." To this I ask, WHAT IS your current workflow? I'm not having any problems with Raw R3D or Color anywhere in my workflow.

RedCineX does exactly what you're asking; clip trimming and first-pass colour correction.

I've had no issues using PP and RCX. We need more info.

RCX doesn't work with 1080 25p on a mac in AVID DNX. I still have to use RCX 487 as all of the current version of PRO do not work. This has gone on for ages now and i have 2 epics and have spend a shit load of money with Red and no one cares.

The error is timecode too long. If you render the r3d's without sound they work. Its when you render the r3d's with sound you get this error.

Red claim its an Avid problem, I have contacted Avid and they say they how could it be our problem when the RED software doesn't work.

Hopefully someone doesn't ignore this post as every time I make a thread it gets ignored.

    ...the RED software doesn't work.

Not sure about anyone else, but, to me, these statements seem obtuse enough as to need more explanation before someone could help...

I did say that the error i get from using the files is "time code is too long" and i have contacted support and they blame AViD by saying their SDK is faulty. Avid claim that is untrue.

There are many posts and threads about this
