Certainly looks like a step in the right direction. [edit] They've just confirmed it supports 1080p as well as PsF.

That almost 3 lb weight will be a limitation. Looks like it has some good features. While higher resolution is cool, I generally find a well executed peaking function to be more important in determining focus with an EVF, at least as long there is a bit of contrast in what you're shooting. Could be good for those low-light, low contrast environments. Extra statistical resolution doesn't always translate to extra usable resolution, though, so I'm not sure all the extra weight will be worth the trade-off. How about an EVF with no perceptible delay. That would be worth a lot.

Yeah, I was interested right up until I saw the weight. The picture had better be unbelievably good in order to overcome that. I have the original Red EVF and that's a beast not simply in size but weight with a camera the size of Epic/Scarlet.

This EVF is listed at a size of 230mm x 125mm x 103mm. "excluding subjected parts".
    It weighs 2.9 pounds.

The OLD red EVF from eyecup to end of the LEMO socket is Still shorter. And smaller in width and height. And weighs half a pound less.
With my Scarlet, it's already pushing the limits of usability with the size and specifically weight relative to the camera.

From the back of my V-mount battery to the front of my PL mount, my Scarlet is the same length as this finder alone.

I'm not saying it won't be amazing. It has an awesome spec sheet. But it's going to be of limited usefulness to some people. Something this big might fly for an F65 or Alexa sized camera without question. But it'll make those of us interested in smaller configurations think twice

Wow. Never got as far as the weight. Ouch. Looking at the picture of it on the Cinealta, it looks about the same size as the prime lens.

In a lot of ways, you're spot on... looked to me like a Summilux-C leica? those are all 95mm fronts and 3-4lbs in weight if my memory doesn't fail me. In other words, about a pound heavier tops, and smaller diameter :)

If RED fixed the Bomb EVF to be at least up to the specs of the EVF, we'd have puny light EVF...all the EVF we'd really need!
