Ok, so I imported some EPIC footage shot at 4K (4096 x 2160) in Pemiere Pro CS5.5.2 and did a 'create clip from sequence'. Everything looks fine in the program window until I do a preview render. The image then becomes slightly squashed height wise and a black line appears at the bottom of the frame in the Program viewer.

Any ideas why this is happening?

The current 4K implementation on Epic is a bit wider than 16:9. I suspect that this is not clear in the PP program window, ie. that the window fits the image top-to-bottom and masks the spillover on the left and right. But the render preview is showing you the whole frame, creating a slight letterbox effect. The result is the black band across the bottom of the window.

    Hi Damian,

Just to throw a different opinion into the mix - i think this is propably just a bug with the preview render. Could you do a proper export for us and let us know if you're still seeing the black line? (make sure you don't select "use previews" in render settings)

I concur with Brad, it's just the preview render. We see it too. When we go to Media Encoder to make final exports, it's clean. Note the Preview File Format in the sequence settings- it's MPEG I-frame of a much lower resolution than your footage. When we do final export with Media Encoder, always make sure the "Use Previews" option is NOT selected, that way you force the Encoder to look at the original files and not the previews.

I think this is variant of a bug we found. Go look into your sequence settings. I bet the aspect ratio of the preview file is off. You should be able to fix it there.

    Cheers
