    Another sweet little comparison.

    ;-)
Do they ignore the H264-compression vs. RAW Power on purpose in all these tests?

I vote for another ultra-relevant criteria in those comparisons:
The Drop Test. RED "The Tank" Scarlet would outperform them all ;-))

    That test is idiotic.

Hang on a second... they dumbed down the Scarlet data to HD then blew it up 400% so they could compare it to 1080p video (all poorly taken BTW)?

    Are they Retarded?

Wouldn't a simple focus chart be better for a test comparison.... And I don't get why the sharpening in post if you want to see the camera's performance by it self.

It's all about a big bluff.

The guy is running a commercial blog page about 5D and other DSLRs, etc,... just to give you an idea what's going on there.

That's why he must sometimes to throw a bit of dust in your eye and with that act try out to get more page traffic by that sort of the rules...

I have Canon C300 that's a jumbo jet in terms of HD video quality at the comparison with Canon 5DMK3 as a Cessna small plane...

C300 still with its weak 8-bit codec and some other artifacts (moire/aliasing and the sensor blooming) can't compete with Scarlet-X in most of the shooting situations even in a low light

just because when I swap Noctilux 0.95, Nokton f/1.1 or EF 50mm f/1.2 L on Scarlet-X @ ISO 1600 than it will get those two stops more to see the same as C300 in dark @ ISO 20.000.

BTW, 5DMK3 is a nice photo/video and especially as an affordable FF35mm time-lapse camera but not so extremely better than 5DMK2.

I did find it slightly amusing, then I realized he is trying to be serious. HMMM let's add this up: He does not offer his full identity, has several large "BUY IT" links on the bottom and offers no way to leave any comments.

Why not crop the 5d equally before punching in 400% ? Does alexa get compared to dslr on a regular basis or whats up?

Sorry, but fanboyism aside, this "test" makes no sense. Why would you buy a Scarlet just to shoot 2K and blow it up 400%? Why not just shot 4K and not blow it up at all to show what you are paying for? Is that so revolutionary?

What comes to my mind is the quote in Despicable Me. "Wow. This is garbage. You actually like this?"

Sanjin is right , The guy who owns & runs Cinema 5D also owns a Scarlet & judging from his posts he luvs it. He actually copped flak for being to pro RED on a DLSR forum.

I agree the test is somewhat strange & it really isn't at test but I imagine he's just keeping the DLSR crowd on side. He clearly mentions the test is comparing 2K Scarlet with 5D iii and the Scarlet still wins. Beside that, there's a whole lot of discussion going on about the 5D iii and problems with the codec.....ie mossies in shots & is this camera a true successor to the venerable 5D ii, which still kicks arse when used for timelapse.
