Sorry to disagree with you all here but the RPZ 18-85 has proven to be a much better lens then the Coke 18-100, sharper, better build, and a more consistent look true out the zoom range, RED really did a fantastic job on this zoom, especially at the price point!!

The only lenses that I have found more favorable for me was the Arri/Zeiss LW zoom and the Master Zoom beast, other then them I have found none to equal the RPZ, and I have tested them all, but to each their own, however once again as for sharpness the RPZ 18-85 is sharper then the Cooke 18-100, and it is much better looking too... ;)

No body said the RED ZOOM wasn't sharp, I vouch for it... we are saying how pin sharp the 18 to 100 CLASSIC is... not the series i or II but the series III Classic.

So settle Ketch... What ever you own is still good my friend... Oh... and one is 100mm max focal length and the other is 85.... Heheheheh thought Id chuck that in. :)

    All cool mate. :)

    We all aaaaaaaaaaaalllll love RED..

I have to say, I too miss my 18-100. The weight was an issue. (I shoot solo a lot & I"m not young.) But with the Epic, de facto, the Cooke loses a third of its weight. the Red 18-85 is great as well and has the computer preciseness and predictability. . And if you don't feel an affinity for the Cooke esthetic (like Ketch), then forget it of course. But many a great movie was shot entirely on the 18-100 -- and I suspect there will be ones in the future. That lens is the Humphrey Bogart of cinema zooms.

    A milk bottle?
My example does not look so, nor does the many many movies I have seen shot with the 20-100.
It has that diffused style wide open, but gets very sharp and beautiful at the T4/5.6 split.
