Less prone to temperature changes. Even more solid. Awesome factor.

Thanks Martin. So extreme heat or cold they keep their shape while Al shrinks/grows making lens fitting difficult?

Do these mounts support auto focus, auto zoom lenses that you find on Canon/Nikon glass?

    Read up on it here
    Everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-the-EPIC-Canon-Mount

The mount is smart so everything is controlled. There is no such thing as controlled zoom as it exists on Broadcast or consumer cameras. The DSLR lenses don't have the motor to pull zoom. Has to be done externally. Watch out for the MEIZLER module... ;)

I wouldn't call fitting the lenses on AL difficult. :) just could be that focus critical work is even more stable on the TI, no matter what you throw at it. But the AL will most certainly work better than anything else what has been holding your DSLR lenses before. ;)
the TI has also been used to hold the RPP 300 without support (not something you should do, but still it has been done )

Alan told me that they are looking into reflecting the european prices in the online store. If nothing goes wrong this would be coming this year.

As for your question: this is just an estimation but it would be around $30 more for customs and shipping to RED Europe. I have no affiliation with RED, and the canon AL is not available yet as solo purchase, so all this is highly speculative! You will have to wait until it comes out, but as for now this estimation is the closest to the final price you can get.

If the Aluminum Canon Mount is $500, that roughly translates to £315.58 at the current exchange (according to xe.com). Add on 20% VAT, and that comes to £378.69. So, I'd guesstimate it'd be around that price.

I'd imagine there'd be some sort of S&H import fee thrown in there for good measure, too.

The VAT is on top of what I calculated. If you have a VAT number that wouldn't concern you.

There's a small addition to the price for customs and shipping to get it to the UK. (in this case would probably amount to $30) Shipping to your location and VAT is on top. no handling fee.
