Looks good. It's Mpeg4 though, not Mpeg4 Part 10, aka h.264. I also felt like a huge nerd typing that, lol.

In case anyone wants to try it themselves, I set the MP4 quality slider to 60%. Higher than that and it started to stutter. I'm trying h.264 next!

I pasted a line on line off pattern on it, and re-encoded with mpeg4, and the pattern remained intact playing on the ipad !
So 2K is real 2K on it. I used goodreader as well as dropbox playing it.

Well, this is getting interesting! I wan't planning on buying a new iPad, but I just might have to and run some tests! :D

Just thought I'd let you know. :-) I've found that that's sometimes a common issue with MP4 containers.

That is very, very interesting! I see you played the file in GoodReader. How did you get the video on the device? (Did you sync through iTunes?)

Are you sure you meant level 5.1 and not 4.1? Specification-wise, that's unsupported and therefore officially impossible (not to say that it isn't possible in reality). If the iPad does support level 5.1, that could be interesting... ;-) (It would allow for 4K playback.)

If you did indeed mean level 5.1, what profile were you using? Also, are you using an iPad 2 or the new iPad?

Also, are you using the QuickTime exporter in AME or Adobe's H.264 encoder?
it's adobe's h.264 encoder, 3rd gen ipad, using avplayerhd to playback that file i made. looks great. plays great. I didn't run the file through itunes. the max supported resolution built into the ipad right now is 1080p, i've tried playing back the 2k file and it doesn't work. so IOS itself needs to update to be able to support he full resolution the retina display can provide. even so. having super high quality 1080p on this is mind blowing. something where you can show off your work in a mobile fashion and know it will look good when you show somebody is a huge relief.

I have 2048 files playing on my iPad 3 right now! Try it out and see if it works for you: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5673574/retina-turbines.mov

Or is this the one you said didn't work for you?

Justin, I played your 2028x1078 without using Goodreader just straight from DropBox and it has all the pixels and plays very smooth.

I don’t know what DropBox is using to play the videos but whatever is using is perfect.
You just have to go to DropBox setting and check the checkbox to “play videos in original quality”

I also downloaded the shorter version of your test file, the one with lines over imposed that Les created and
    ...........all the lines are preserved!!.
I had to use magnifying glass to see if all pixels are there.

Your first file the one that is 2048 x 1536 is very poor quality and is playing slow and propellers have jagged lines like you see when you play interlaced video.

No jagged lines on the other videos at all, examined with the magnifying glass.

Now let’s see what 2560p TimeScape will do……

Yeah, in order to get it to play smoothly with 1536 vertical resolution I had to render it at 0% quality haha!

It takes time to open this 550MB file via DropBox still waiting.

BTW Justin, how are you getting these links to your files that you are posting here?
I just got some links to http://db.tt/sfh4h5lk
    Trinidad and Tobago !!

    https://www.nic.tt/

Are you just using DropBox 'create link"

Command click on the file in the Dropbox folder and then select the dropbox menu and copy public link. The file has to be in your "public" folder.
