hey loved the video, it looked amazing on the big screen here. I can see you guys enjoyed grading it too. But if I can just say one thing, it would be been nice to see one style or mood across all the scenes that would connect them a little more. What I see now is a look for each scene but no relation to each other. And what some of the others said about the editing, it could use some kind of structure as well to help the story along, even if it's only a visual story.

Agreed Robert, this kind of loose disconnection doesn't work for everything. I feel like we barely got away with it because of the theme but it didn't help us, and it certainly wouldn't help a projet that didn't involve seizures, astral projection, what have you.

That's the trouble with music videos--you skate by with decisions that would never fly in narrative. It's very helpful to have these pointed out, thanks very much.

Thanks also Carey for the bit about emotion. We didn't spend enough time trying to feel for the character, trying to create sympathy and connection, trying to get inside her head rather then just film it in a pretty way.

Thanks for the positive comments too guys, much love.... shot entirely on Zeiss Contax lens.

The forrest scene is 95% the Contax 28 - 85 3.3-4 Zoom, I never thought I would use it for beauty but when you're running around with only minutes to shoot before the snow melts, she performs flawlessly.

Best shots are in the woods but the rest of it has way to much going on. You went over board with the blur shots and due to the bad lighting you made the beauty of the movie and camera look cheap. Everything looked like you rushed it except the shots in the woods but the bright side is ...you had an idea and you made the short.

Really? Everyone's a critic. To quote "My So Calle Life", were all a bunch of girls here sometimes. We just like to tear each other down.

I actually think this is one of my fave pieces on Reduser this year, maybe right after the prometheus trailer :).

But seriously, and it's no just cuz its shot on a Contax 28-85 (how can I NOT love it now?). I love that it's shot quickly, beautifully, and is very poetic. Its emotional, and tender, without trying too hard. It's earnest, and I like that a lot. And the model is AMAZING. Beautiful, and fragile. Hard to capture on camera. I think it's pretty great, overall. I salute you Mr de Franco! You Contaxian you!

It has a kind a french, euro feel to it that I like to, BTW.

Also - how did you get those split images of her? Did you have her repeat the runs into the forrest 10 times, and lock off the camera, and layered the images in post? Totally f*cking cool dude!!!!

Love the mood in your video, but I just can't help myself and keep my hands off the screencaps from ungraded/neutral graded Red footage. I can imagine what experienced colorist is able to achieve with the red images. Here I'm just goofing around with Color Efex and Photoshop.

not bad. the video trick you used with doubles/triples/+++ Did you shoot fixed with man takes of her in different spots. Then crop making sure her movement never leaves the crop section?
