Does art imitate life or life imitate art? Seriously, this is pretty cool stuff. This is a serious dive which could end up being pretty spectacular. Can't wait to see results. I worked on some projects involving Robert Ballard and there's some very interesting stuff down there waiting to be discovered.

Prompted by this thread to read Interviews of James Cameron ... http://www.amazon.com/James-Cameron-...1911591&sr=1-1 .

For sure a modern hero, I'm learning a lot about "problem solving".

Interesting CNN story about Cameron's trip to the Mariana Trench at the end of March:

    http://lightyears.blogs.cnn.com/2012...rts/?hpt=hp_c2

The CNN reporter, Jason Carroll, also rode along with Cameron on a test drive:

It's an incredibly brave and dangerous feat, but Cameron is saying he's not doing it for the $10 million X-Prize Foundation reward. I'm amazed that a guy this busy can take this much time out of his life to do this...

5K image may not be exactly "pure" IMAX quality (I remember someone said that horizontal 70mm IMAX neg is around 10K+ or close), but I bet it will look good blown up to a giant IMAX screen, much better than 1080p or 2K image. I seriously hope they using 5K sources for a Prometheus IMAX release too.
