hey everybody, i looked around and didn't see any threads on it but i couldn't find any info on any experiences with lexar fc cards with the red one, I'm wondering if anyone has used non-red cf cards and higher capacity cf cards, like the 600x 32 gig cards?

    Thanks a bunch

It's been a while since we got down and dirty with CF use on the RED ONE but from what I remember off the top of my head is that they do not work with the current camera firmware and only current RED CF cards work properly in the RED ONE now. The original RED CF cards were re-branded Lexar UDMA cards but the new ones were custom-made for RED.

Only the 8GB variant worked for upto 4K resolution and was incapable of any hi-speed shots.
    So, save the money.

You can get used 16GB RED CF cards pretty cheap nowadays as people are moving to SSD.

I use the 32gb 400x Lexar CF cards with my 7D and I continuously get Err.02 as well as messages saying to re-format the card. Usually I can turn the camera on and off to fix the problem but from what I have heard the Lexar cards are not worth the savings. Just my experience, maybe the 600x cards are better but I'd ask around first..

The Red 8GB cards were Lexar 300x ones rebadged.
Lexar 300x still work fine if you can find them, but I was warned that the 600x would not work reliably, as the camera would not recognise them as Red.
The 16GB red cards have their own firmware on them, so no other brand will work.
