RR 4x lane fault

My RR has suddenly giving me a warning that it is in a 4x slot an needs 8. It is in the 2nd slot on my 08 mac tower which is def faster then 4, however system profile shows it as 4. Also freezes the computer up when I try to render footage. It was working flawlessly last week. I did recently upgrade to the new firmware on cam 3.0, RCX to 11 and RR to latest firmware.

Anybody Know what I should do? I really really need it now...

try switching it to the other 16x slot. if that doesn't work, reflash firmware while the card is in safe mode by switching the #8 dip switch and than turning it off when you shutdown after the firmware update. make sure you when you do it, you pull the power from the tower and wait a few minutes before u pull the card out or touch the card.

if that doesn't work, you can try rolling back the firmware back one generation, via dipswitch method too. identical thing more or less happened to me, i'm shelling out 3k for a replacement card now. works fine on older firmware, doesn't work right with the newest one. RED claimed it to be physical damage to the card...

It finally showed back up after switching slots and works on a batch render for about an hour before freezing the computer so the point of force shutdown...
